Save the Date and Make 2006 “An Eco-Clectic New Year!”
San Luis Obispo - November 14, 2005 - Plans for ECOSLO’s third annual New Year’s Eve Fundraiser Gala are culminating, destined to reach a pinnacle during the quintessential New Year’s Eve countdown celebration at Midnight on December 31, 2005 at the San Luis Obispo Veteran’s Hall. Join us as we celebrate ECOSLO’s 35-year legacy as the leading environmental protection and enhancement agency in the Central Coast!
Brought to life in 2003 by the Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo, (ECOSLO), the New Year’s Eve Fundraiser Gala is a cornucopia of good people experiencing fine foods, libations, live music and dancing, special guest entertainers, children’s games, a silent auction, and a joyous midnight toast. Coined, “An Eco-Clectic New Year”, we’ll be celebrating the rich and diverse forms of culture throughout the world, as well as the many ways, through activities and programs, that ECOSLO is committed to environmental health and protection.
Opening the night is musical group Calinambe, who serves up an entrancing mix of original music that truly exemplifies the essence of the term "World Fusion”. It is a sublimely powerful and harmonious blend that listeners describe as completely unique, yet somehow touching a deep and familiar place in the heart. Tim Beckwith and Johnee Gange are both seasoned musicians and multi-instrumentalists, whose talents combine to create a sound that is out of this world.
Soon after, Spanish guitar phenomenon Incendio, will infuse the hall with their world-class instrumental sounds. Guitarists JP Durand and Jim Stubblefield, and bassist Liza Carbe will produce a fiery blend of jazz, middle-eastern, and world grooves into a sensual and spiritual experience for all! ECOSLO is proud to have them bringing their charming and talented performance to this year’s New Year’s Eve Fundraiser Gala.
You might have seen Incendio at the California World Festival, or the Sundance Film Festival. Though chances are, you stumbled upon them down at our very own San Luis Obispo Farmer’s Market; or tried to catch a glimpse of them, behind the multitude of awe-struck listeners that gather around fervently to absorb the group’s captivating sounds. Having played Farmer’s Market for several years now, the group is a classic favorite for young and old. Their iconic guitar duos are widely anticipated by music lovers of all kinds. “It’s that immediate visceral response from listeners upon which Incendio has painstakingly built a reputation over the past six years”, says JP Durand.
Appropriately hailed a “blazing guitar inferno” by
Instrumental Weekly, Incendio’s name literally means “fire”
in Spanish. The group is based out of Los Angeles, but you’ll
more likely find them on the road to one of their many festival
or concert performances throughout the Western United States. And
lucky for us here in the Central Coast, they’ll be lighting
up the SLO Farmer’s Market once again, with their very own
brand of fire on December 8th. Come down and experience this originally
explosive group for yourself on the corner of Chorro and Higuera
Streets. Only a stone’s throw away, will be ECOSLO’s
booth, where you’ll find information on the New Year’s
Eve Gala, tickets for sale, and an opportunity to win Incendio’s
latest live CD, “Dia y Noche”!
Buy your tickets, starting November 22nd, at both Boo Boo Records
locations, Divine Appointment Guitars in Paso Robles, Coalesce Bookstore
